Want Frye's With That?

I know what you're thinking... my boots are really nice... now I know what you're thinking... they must have been really expensive $$$ - well, thankfully for you, that's where you're wrong  (but you're right about the first part... they are really nice)!!!

I've gotten a lot of questions lately about these boots, whether or not they are Frye. While they are great, they are far from it. In fact, they are from Target and I wear them with anything - dressed up, down, in any direction. As for the rest of the outfit, you know I'm all about layering! It's super simple and adds a ton of character to any outfit.

Keep It Cool

What's great about fall is the ability to layer up and break out some new (or vintage) pieces. Layering is a great way to add a little spice to your outfits and change it up a bit from how you might normally wear something. I love vests especially because they are so versatile and they so easily complete a look. Here I was still layering light, since it's still super hot in New York, but it's a way for me to transition into fall and mix and match some great summer and winter pieces!

Simplicity is Key

It's important to appreciate the simple things in life, especially when it comes to fashion. I really love simple outfits that look great and don’t need too much fluff. The subtle gold and the way the pattern criss crosses in different directions make this shirt stand out and keep it from being just a plain plaid. Accentuated with the gold chunky necklace and this outfit is now one of a kind.

Stay tuned for some great fall finds!

"Fantastik" Find

I went to Steve Madden last week hoping to find a great pair of sandals that would be on sale since it is (sadly) the end of summer... and I struck gold! I found this "fantastik" (as Steve Madden calls them... I happen to think it is quite fitting - I promise I do know how to spell fantastic) pair of tan sandal wedges on sale and have been showing them off ever since.

Seen below, I am also dressed head to ankles in Forever 21 (just coincidence - I must've woken up in a f21 kind of mood). I love these ankle pants because they are actually ankle pants on me, unlike most which just end up being regular length (since I am slightly on the shorter side). They were such a great fit that I actually went back to buy them in more colors...

Saturday Night Fever

It can definitely be a challenge picking out the perfect outfit for a Saturday night. Since it has to be juuuust right, I often go through about a half dozen wardrobe changes before leaving the house. In this case, I went with my silk, black, racerback tank. I wasn't sure exactly where the night would take me, but a simple tank can go a long way, match almost any outfit and look just the right amount of fancy. Tucked in to my tiered floral mini, paired with a long silver chain - it was a foolproof look.

Trying on outfits might've made me late in the end, but it's a small price to pay in order to leave the house looking great.

Long Dress, Short Shirt

Something that I have found myself wearing this summer (and re-wearing) are maxi dresses with crop tops. Its such a great way to dress up a little bit on the weekends for a day at the park or for a walk on the boardwalk, while staying super comfy. I love the way the short top compliments the long dress - maybe it's because it makes me feel taller ;)

Welcome to FashionSense

Welcome to FashionSense. I'm going to be your guide through what I know best - everything fashion. I will share with you my favorite trends and tools to stay in the loop, look great during your busy lives and keep in style while on a real budget (not that it will be particularly difficult because like most of you trying to survive in New York, I’m already on one).

Mullet Shirt: Free People, Tank Top: American Apparel, Shorts: J. Crew

I never thought I’d say this but one of my favorite trends this summer is the mullet – not the haircut, but shirts, skirts and dresses. The moral of the trend - business in the front, party in the back.

What's your favorite summer trend?
